Content marketing ideas for your blog

Nine out of ten businesses use some form of content marketing. Many businesses maintain a company blog and others rely on leads from affiliate blogs to get web traffic. With so much content cluttering the internet it can be difficult to produce both the quantity and the quality necessary to get noticed. Here is a list of ideas you can try if you find yourself running out of them:

  • If you’ve got quantity down but you’re having trouble producing quality. Consider writing better content less frequently. Fewer posts of higher quality will produce more results in the long run
  • Know your audience. If you’re struggling to write content, it might be because you don’t have a solid picture of your target audience. The better you understand them, the better you’ll be able to tailor content for them
  • Place more emphasis on images. If you’re relying on cheesy stock photos, your content marketing strategy won’t be as effective. Look elsewhere for high quality images
  • Write a top 100 list about something relating to your field or niche
  • Write a response to a controversial article or video
  • Write about trends that you predict will grow in popularity in your field
  • Focus on calls to action. Your content is worthless if it isn’t asking readers to take some kind of action. Make sure every post includes a strong call to action
  • Do some more keyword research. If you find yourself using the same keywords over and over again, it might be time to do some more keyword research to get some fresh ideas
  • Ask your loyal customers for testimonials and post those. Sometimes a customer’s words can be more powerful than a marketer’s
  • Occasionally write follow up posts on the posts that were the most successful and drove the most traffic
  • Consider cross promoting content from others in your field. Occasionally feature guest posts
  • Do a question and answer blog with a leader in your field or niche
  • Conduct a poll or survey with your customers and write a post about the results
  • Watch your competition. Don’t steal posts from them of course but see what type of content they’re posting and what their readers want to read
  • Consider organizing your blog by topic. By indexing posts by topic it allows customers to read only about topics they’re interested in

These are a few ideas to get you started. Try to think of some more and incorporate them. By occasionally mixing it up and keeping things interesting you’ll see more success in content marketing and you’ll have a lot more fun doing it.
